中国出版登上世界舞台——我社图书版权进出口贸易成果斐然

FLTRP puts great emphasis on the collaboration with foreign publishing companies. Its principle for international cooperation is to emphasize open opportunities, mutual benefit and trust, win-win outcomes, professional operation and long-term collaboration.

FLTRP was one of the first Chinese publishing houses to establish collaboration with international counterparts. As early as 1983, FLTRP signed the first copyright contract with Oxford University Press. Since then, FLTRP has developed effective collaboration with Pearson Education, Macmillan Education, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Thomson Learning, the McGraw-Hill Companies, Harcourt Education Limited, HarperCollins Publishers and several dozen houses in over ten countries and areas, including France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, the UK and the USA. Numerous fine works have been published through successful international cooperation, such as New Concept English, New Standard English, New Interchange, Olympic English, Upgrade, Oxford Bookworm Readers, Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, Macmillan English-Chinese Dictionary for Advanced Learners, and The Pocket Oxford English Dictionary, etc. International cooperation contributes to 30% of FLTRP products and sales. Collaboration models have evolved from simple copyright licensing to joint planning, writing, editing and marketing.

Up to 2005, the total sales of New Standard English, jointly planned and edited by FLTRP and Macmillan, exceeded 10,000,000 units. Other excellent publications from 2005 to 2006 include Collins CO-BUILD Dictionaries, Cambridge Learner’s Dictionary, Reflets, New Standard Korean, New Concept Japanese, Gruffalo picture books, The Dragon Slayer, New Bookworm Readers, National Geographic Reading Expedition series, Applied Linguistics in Action series etc.

In August 2006, FLTRP and Macmillan signed a contract on the publishing of selected papers from Nature in an English-Chinese bilingual, multi-volume project. This marks FLTRP’s expansion into the field of science publishing.

With the growing interest in learning Chinese throughout the world, FLTRP has expanded into Chinese publishing, in addition to its well-established foreign language publishing. FLTRP attaches greater importance to international collaboration in its Chinese publishing.

During the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2005, FLTRP signed a memorandum of understanding with Pearson Education and Macmillan Education on “publishing Chinese for the world”, which was reported in the front page of The Bookseller under the title “China Publishing on World Stage”. Attending the FBF as an exhibitor for the first time, FLTRP achieved fruitful results in negotiating 101 copyright projects, 33 of which are intentions or agreements on export. Also in Frankfurt in 2005, FLTRP held a Signature Ceremony for Strategic Cooperation in Dictionary Publishing with Oxford University Press, launched The World of Chinese -- a large multimedia Chinese language teaching package.


    作为国内最大的专业外语出版机构,外研社一直非常重视在各个领域与国际公司的合作。外研社在国际合作中的原则是:机会开放、互惠双赢、职业化的操作规程和良好的信誉。
    外研社是中国改革开放以来,最早同国际出版界合作的出版社之一。早在1983年,我社就与牛津大学出版社签署了第一项版权贸易协议。二十多年以来,外研社与培生教育出版集团、麦克米伦公司、牛津大学出版社、剑桥大学出版社、汤姆森学习集团、麦格劳希尔、哈考特、柯林斯,以及法国、德国、日本、韩国等二十多个国家和地区的上百家出版社建立了良好的合作关系。通过强强联手的成功合作,外研社出版了像《新概念英语》、《新标准英语》、《剑桥国际英语教程》、《奥运英语》、《积极英语阅读教程》、“书虫”、朗文当代英语词典、牛津袖珍英汉双解词典,以及麦克米伦高阶英汉双解词典、柯林斯高阶英语学习词典等众多精品图书。今天,无论是从品种上还是发行码洋上,国际合作项目在外研社的比重都达到了30%。外研社的国际合作模式也从原来的简单引进版权,发展到现在的“实力联姻”模式,通过合作双方共同策划选题,共同拥有版权,共同推广销售,甚至共同投资来实现最佳效益。
    2005年,外研社引进版权品种达到568种,同时在品质和效益方面都体现了“精品出版”的战略,优秀的教材、学术类图书比重显著增加。外研社与麦克米伦出版公司共同开发、编写的《新标准小学英语》,已经创造了各种产品累积销售突破1亿册/盘的优异成绩。2005年-06年间出版的其他优秀引进产品包括:柯林斯CO-BUILD系列词典、《剑桥中阶双解词典》,《走遍法国》,《新标准韩国语》,《新概念日语》,咕噜牛系列儿童绘本、屠龙学校系列儿童惊悚故事、新书虫系列读物、国家地理科学探索系列、应用语言学实践系列等。2006年8月,外研社与麦克米伦公司签署了引进《自然》(Nature)百年科学经典的合约。《自然》是国际学术界最具权威的自然科学学术期刊之一,其百年来的文献资料几乎等同于20世纪到21世纪人类科学发展史。外研社斥巨资引进并翻译《自然》百年文献精品,首次跨越了人文学科的疆界,举起外研社进军科学出版领域的大旗。
    随着国际上汉语学习的日益升温,外研社又抓住机遇,投身于具有深厚母语文化底蕴、面对全球的汉语出版。在这个领域中,外研社一如既往地重视国际合作和版权贸易。
    2005年10月的法兰克福书展上,外研社洽谈版权贸易共101项,其中版权输出贸易达成意向或协议的有33项。外研社与牛津大学出版社签署了“英汉、汉英双向大辞典编纂合作”协议;举行了大型多媒体汉语教材《汉语世界》的首发式。最引人注目的是,外研社与培生教育出版集团、麦克米伦教育出版公司共同签订了汉语出版海外出版合资公司的框架协议。英国Bookseller展会特刊头版对此做了报道,题为“中国出版登上世界舞台”。
